Why Shelly Zegart?

After an introduction by a mutual friend, William Arnett of Tinwood Media chose Shelly Zegart to be a consultant for his landmark exhibition The Quilts of Gee’s Bend. Her extensive knowledge of quilts as well as her many years as a folk art and fine art collector gave her unique insight and perspective to assist with the project and the two accompanying books. Zegart advised Mr. Arnett on many aspects of the project including: helping to select some quilts for the exhibition and the books, and writing quilt descriptions for the books Gee's Bend: The Women and Their Quilts and The Quilt's Of Gee's Bend, negotiations with potential exhibit venues for the Collective quilts, as well as the sale of other quilts from Gee's Bend. Because of her intimate involvement and commitment to the project Shelly Zegart was chosen to be an exclusive dealer of Gee’s Bend quilts.
